A Totally New Kind Of Guitar Lesson
Experience
Do you have a passion to play guitar freely and expressively, to get that music out from inside of you?
Taking guitar lessons with me is almost certainly unlike any previous guitar-lesson experience you’ve had. Once a week we’ll get together in Abbotsford – you, me, and probably one or two other folks and we’ll have a proper three-hour jam session as a band in my studio.
That’s right, you’ll be a member in a functioning band (excluding performances). We’ll be learning songs that the group enjoys, and you’ll be getting the kind of quality experience on guitar that is incredibly hard to find.
Of course, along the way there will be lots of teaching moments, and definitely some theory sessions, but overall you will be playing in a band. (Typically one or two guitar players, bass, and drums)
If you’re interested in learning drums or bass, I teach those too and I’m sure we can work out an opportunity to make some progress on those as well.
When you compare this experience to sitting on a stool across from an instructor, looking at a book, I promise you, it will be like night and day.
The New Highlight of Your Week
Having your guitar lesson embedded in a band format is such a completely different experience, that for many of my students, it becomes one of the high points of their week.
You get to take real solos.
You’ve got a real band backing you up, complete with wisecracks and the rush of creating music live as a group.
The process of getting away from work or school for a couple of hours, and engaging the musical part of your brain in a creative manner has proven to be welcome stress relief for many of my students.
Perhaps it will for you, too.
Intermediate Player, Wanting To Improve?
If you’re just getting started on the guitar, I highly recommend you checkout my beginner course. I poured blood, sweat and maybe even one or two tears into that course, and for less than the cost of one month of lessons with me in person, you can have many month’s worth of material to work on at your own pace.
When you’re just getting started, this is a good approach. It’s logical and step-by-step from the ground up, and you’ll gain a solid foundation we can build on later.
When you’ve completed the course, give me a shout and we can talk.
Not For Everyone
I'll just come right out and say it: I screen my students. Not everyone who applies gets in.
The simple fact is that not everyone is a good fit for the kind of format and environment my guitar lessons offer, and I want to make sure that it is an enjoyable time for all people present. The other members of the band are counting on you to show up, be practicing the material in your own time, and put some effort into the group.
That said, if you're motivated and friendly, there's a very good chance we can work together. Before we start, I'll interview you to find out your musical likes and dislikes, your goals as a musician, and your current skills and areas needing improvement.
Who Is Colin Daniel?
The website you’re on right now, RiffNinja.com, is owned by myself and a business partner. Take a look around, you’ll find hundreds of YouTube examples of my teaching (albiet in a different manner than you’ll see in my private lessons). Checkout our store, where I have more than a dozen full-length (anywhere from 2 to 20 hours) courses complete with 100+ page books. Checkout the free 3-day trial of our guitar school, and you’ll have access to more than 80 hours of my lessons. Read some of the testimonials, and you’ll discover how people’s guitar playing is being transformed every day by what we do here.
I’ve taught guitar for more than 45 years, and trained more than 5000 musicians in person during that time. I’ve played in more bands than I can remember and been in the recording studio so many times I’ve lost count. I have several albums of music I’ve written myself, including some projects I’ve collaborated with students on.
In short, I’ve been around the musical block, and if you’re looking for a way to take your guitar playing to the next level, and the next, and the next… I’m your guy.
Despite spending the bulk of my time creating material for the website, I really enjoy the one-on-one interaction with students, and the chance to jam on a regular basis (gotta keep those chops up!). For that reason, I keep a few hours of my week open to work with people like yourself, right here in Abbotsford BC.
To get started, simply enter your details in the form below, and I’ll be in touch within a day or two.
